Grass-Fed Meats
Grass-fed Meats: At Rose Hill Dairy, we raise small numbers of sheep and cattle for meat. We take seriously our responsibility - since we are about to take their lives - to provide meat animals with a lifestyle so good that (if animals actually thought this way) they would never regret having lived. We don't butcher in the winter, don't feed anything but pasture and appropriate certified organic minerals, and we only work with a small local meat processor that we feel does a good, humane job. Our animals never receive hormones, and would only receive antibiotics in very rare emergencies, with many months of clean living ahead of them (Ask about a particular animal if you like).
Grass-fed meats and dairy products have been proven in laboratory tests to be far healthier to eat than factory-farmed products. The main differences are in the fats of each. Grass-fed products have higher levels of Omega-3 fatty acids, and they also have plenty of cancer-fighting CLA, which is only produced by grazing ruminants.
All of our meats are vacuum frozen (Cryovac) for optimum freezer storage. White paper wrap is available for preorders. If you want soup bones, remember to get on the waiting list early, as there is never enough freezer space to store them!
We will have seven meat lambs this year, and expect them to sell out quickly. We are taking deposits on whole and half-lamb orders, and then depending on what is left, we'll sell individual cuts at the prices on the Meat Price List. A whole lamb will yield 40-55 lbs of meat and sell for $5.75/lb. A half lamb will yield 20-25 lbs of meat and sell for $6.25/lb. The deposit to reserve your lamb is $50 for a whole and $25 for a half lamb. To reserve your lamb, please email me first to confirm availability, then send your deposit check, payable to Rose Hill Dairy, with the following information:
___ I want to reserve a whole lamb
___ I'd prefer a larger lamb - more meat
___ I want my meat cut the standard way: cut into rib chops, loin chops, shoulder roast(s), bone-in leg(s), shanks, and ground lamb, packaged in Cryovac plastic.
___ I would like the following organ meats:
___ I'm buying a whole lamb and would prefer paper wrap (which may have plastic underneath and won't keep as long) - $30 discount for this.
Please mail forms with your deposit payable to Rose Hill Dairy, 3966 Franz Road, Boonville, IN 47601. Bon appetit!
We're still working on our website. Please email rosehilldairy@yahoo.com for a price list!
